TCS area Competitive and Recreational Leagues

Youth Soccer Programs in the TCS area
Youth Soccer and Adult Soccer are delineated at the age of 19. A player who turns 19 years of age before August in any given year is considered a "U20" player and is thus an Adult player and cannot participate in local Club soccer programs. A player who turns 19 years of age on or after August 1 of any given year is considered a "U19" player and is still eligible to participate in local Youth Club soccer programs.

Competitive Leagues:

There are four 'competitive' leagues in the TCS area. Competitive Leagues involve some element of travel. For outdoor competitive leagues, there are generally an equal number of home and away games. Home games are played in the local community area at the Clubs home field. Away games are at the competitions home field and can be as close as a few miles away, or as far as a couple of hundred miles away - depends on the league. The indoor competitve league involves all games played at one facility but can involve significant travel by some teams to reach that facility. In the Fall, the LSC offers a Fall League. In the Winter, the FIELD offers a Winter League. In the Spring, the Broome County Soccer Association offer the BCSA-SL, and upper level 'Premiere' teams from the TCSA area also participate in the Upstate NY Premiere Soccer League. As a general rule, the administration of these leagues are structured to accept individual Club base teams into its own league and they are not positioned to deal with individual players. Individual players wishing to play at the 'competitive' level and who are not already affiliated with a Club team should contact the Club Registrar of the local soccer club in his/her community. Coaches of 'competitve' teams participating in these leagues are frequently certified or licensed. Most are volunteer, though teams participating at the highest level generally have paid coaches.

Recreational Leagues:

There are many 'recreation' level programs in the TCS area. In general, games played within these leagues
don't involve travel, i.e. for outdoor play, all of the games are played at one central location and the
players participating in the league are all from within the local club or local municipality. In many cases
the level of involvement is limited to just game play. In other Recreational offerings there is an element
of instruction (practice) as well as game play. Most of the coaches in Recreational soccer are volunteer
parents. Some of these parents have been certified or licensed to coach youth soccer, though
certification/licensing is not generally required. Some of the Recreational Soccer offerings in the
TCS area (by geographical area) include:
